Cleveland Police Center
TWH/MBI was selected to design a replacement for City of Cleveland’s Police Headquarters. The site is situated near the heart of picturesque downtown Cleveland, not far from other municipal buildings. The new facility includes a full complement of offices, modern technology data processing and retrieval areas, fully secure evidence storage and retrieval spaces, secure detainee interview rooms, and enclosed vehicle sallyport, housing for canine units, and other amenities.
The two-story building is clad with brick, curtain wall, and composite aluminum wall panels. The palette lets the Center stand apart as a modern and technologically advanced facility while not feeling out of place or awkward next to historically significant buildings in the vicinity. The scale of the building was kept deliberately personal and addresses the street edge in a traditional urban manner. Visitors are greeted with an open two-story atrium upon arrival. The space is purposefully open and inviting; a stark contrast to many similar facilities in the region. The facility is approximately 34,000 gross square feet.
